Word won’t start, but you can’t figure out why? In fact, it can be very difficult to find the cause if the program does not display an error message. It is easier to check the most common errors and correct them if necessary. These include:

Solution 1: test in safe mode if Word won’t start

If Word does not open, check whether the problem occurs in Word safe mode. If the program works correctly in that mode, it is probably caused by add-ins not installed.

Every Microsoft 365 program has its own safe mode. This shouldn’t be confused with the Windows operating system safe mode though.

Step 1: open Run dialog box

Press down the keys [Windows] + [R] at the same time to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: open Word safe mode

Enter the text “Winword / Safe” and confirm by clicking on “OK”. Now, Word safe mode will start for versions 2016, 2013, and 2010.

Step 3: open word in safe mode

Now you can open Word as per usual. If Word can no longer be opened, activated add-ins are excluded as the cause of the error. In this case, skip the following steps and skip to solution number 2. If you can open the program in safe mode without any issues, then add-ins are probably the source of the problem. Accordingly, it will be necessary to either disable or uninstall them.

Step 4: deactivate add-ins

In the opened Word document, select the menu item “File” and then click on “Options”. Your Word options will now open. With the left mouse button click on the “Add-Ins” tab. Then select the “COM Add-Ins” option from the “Manage” drop-down menu and select the “Go” button to finish.

Deselect to deactivate all the add-ins by using your left mouse and confirm with “OK”.

The dialog boxes are identical whether you’re using Word versions 2010, 2013, or 2016.

Solution 2: Switch default printer if Word won’t open

If Word does not open and the problem occurs in safe mode, checking your selected default printer is the next step. If Microsoft Word cannot access this printer, the application does not start. To resolve the problem, select a different default printer.

Step 1: open Windows settings

Open the Windows settings by pressing the [Windows] + [I] keys at the same time. Then select the “Devices” section and choose the “Printers & scanners” option.

Step 2: change default printer

Starting

Deactivate the option “Allows Windows to manage my default printer” by removing the check mark with the left mouse button. Then select the printer you want to set as your new default printer. Click on the “Manage” button to open the printer settings. Now, select “as default” to use your new printer as your default printer in the future.

For older Windows versions, you can find the printer settings under “Control Panel” > “Hardware and Sound” > “View Devices and Printers”. Then right-click the printer you want to use and select the “Set as default printer” option.

Step 3: start Word

Now, try restarting the program once more. If you can’t open Word, then you can try updating the printer driver.

Step 4: update driver

Added a 'God Mode'. It's a lua script that sets the current troops to max troops 4 times per second. So unless it's a one hit kill your troops should fully heal every time they are attacked, attack themselves or are selected.
Make sure you activate the script above it first! (That's why its grouped behind it) The God Mode uses the pointer the 'Selected Unit in Battle (Ally and Enemy)' script finds so it is absolutely required.

I'm pretty new to Live so hope someone can help.
I recently got a Digi 002 but cannot get Live to recognize it in the audio preferences.
I'm running it on a new MacBook Pro with the most recent OSx 10.6.4 and Live 8.1.5
I do not have Pro Tools so am just using the Digi 002 as an audio interface. I downloaded the most recent Digi CoreAudio Driver for use with third party DAWs and it's been recognized by my MacBook Pro in the audio preferences but does not come up as an option in Live.Digi 002 Rack Driver Mac
I've made sure the Digi CoreAudio Manager is connected before starting up Live and I've checked that the Digi 002 is not the default audio device in the Audio Midi setup as mentioned in the troubleshooting FAQ. I've reinstalled the driver too to no effect.
I have a Line6 Toneport that works fine with Live but just cannot get the Digi 002 to show up.
Is there anything else I can try out?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I am hoping to get some really answers to anyone who has successfully connected the Digi 002 to Logic Pro X. I have switched from Pro-tools to Logic for reasons that Im sick and tired of having to be forced to update not only the software but the hardware itself. By switching, I am hoping that I can incorporate the Digi 002 for another few years or more.

Log sources using syslog are very easy to test in QRadar. However, there are some device types that have only polling type (or file based) protocols as configuration options. Among others, Amazon AWS, IBM BigFix, IBM MaaS360, Cisco IPS are such examples. For these, firing a syslog event with the same format and the same logsourceid in the header is useless, because the log source configuration will not match.

Objects: Excel is object-oriented, which means everything is an object - the Excel window, the workbook, a sheet, a chart, a cell. VBA allows users to manipulate and perform actions with objects in Excel.

If you don’t have any experience with object-oriented programming and this is a brand new concept, take a second to let that sink in!

Procedures: a procedure is a chunk of VBA code, written in the Visual Basic Editor, that accomplishes a task. Sometimes, this is also referred to as a macro (more on macros below). There are two types of procedures:

  • Subroutines: a group of VBA statements that performs one or more actions
  • Functions: a group of VBA statements that performs one or more actions and returns one or more values

Note: you can have functions operating inside of subroutines. You’ll see later.

Macros: If you’ve spent any time learning more advanced Excel functionality, you’ve probably encountered the concept of a “macro.” Excel users can record macros, consisting of user commands/keystrokes/clicks, and play them back at lightning speed to accomplish repetitive tasks. Recorded macros generate VBA code, which you can then examine. It’s actually quite fun to record a simple macro and then look at the VBA code.

Please keep in mind that sometimes it may be easier and faster to record a macro rather than hand-code a VBA procedure.

For example, maybe you work in project management. Once a week, you have to turn a raw exported report from your project management system into a beautifully formatted, clean report for leadership. You need to format the names of the over-budget projects in bold red text. You could record the formatting changes as a macro and run that whenever you need to make the change.

Visual Basic for Applications is a programming language developed by Microsoft. Each software program in the Microsoft Office suite is bundled with the VBA language at no extra cost. VBA allows Microsoft Office users to create small programs that operate within Microsoft Office software programs.

Think of VBA like a pizza oven within a restaurant. Excel is the restaurant. The kitchen comes with standard commercial appliances, like large refrigerators, stoves, and regular ole’ ovens - those are all of Excel’s standard features.

    The following exercises use a MIPS simulator called MARS, which provides a rich debugging GUI. You can run MARS on your home computer by downloading the jar file from the Internet or by copying it from ~cs61c/bin/Mars4_3.jar on the instructional machines. You will need Java J2SE 1.5.0 (or later) SDK installed on your computer, which can be obtained from Sun. If your home computer is a Mac, you can also follow the instructions here to install MARS as an app in one step.

    You can run MARS in lab by typing 'mars &' at the command line.The ampersand is optional but will allow you to continue using that terminal window (on the Macs however, you'll need to run it in it's own terminal tab by pressing command-t first).To run the program remotely, you may either run via an instructional server (but NOT one of the Orchard machines), or through a local installation (recommended).When on an instructional server, you will need to be running an X-Server (like XMing), and enabling X11 tunneling.

    Tip: Although it is possible, you should avoid running MARS remotely at all costs - it will be painfully slow to use and will overwhelm the servers if many students attempt to do so.It is in your best interest to setup/run a local copy of MARS.     Assembly Basics:

    3. View and edit your code in the 'Edit' tab. Notice the code highlighting and 'completion suggestion' features.
    4. When ready, assemble your code using Run-->Assemble (or press F3).
    5. This will take you automatically to the 'Execute' tab, which is where you can run and debug your program.
    6. Step through the program using Run-->Step (or press F7).
    7. You should take the time to familiarize yourself with everything in the Run menu (and the keyboard shortcuts).

    For this exercise, we calculate the Fibonacci numbers using fib[0] = 0; fib[1] = 1; fib[n] = fib[n-1] + fib[n-2].
    Follow the steps below and record your answers to the questions. The Help menu (F1) may come in handy.

    1. What do the .data, .word, .text directives mean (i.e. what do you use them for)?
    2. How do you set a breakpoint in MARS? Set a breakpoint on line 14 and run to it. What is the instruction address? Has line 14 executed yet?
    3. Once at a breakpoint, how do you continue to execute your code? How do you step through your code? Run the code to completion.
    4. Find the 'Run I/O' window. What number did the program output? Which fib number is this?
    5. At what address is n stored in memory? Try finding this by (1) looking at the Data Segment and (2) looking at the machine code (Code column in the Text Segment).
    6. Without using the 'Edit' tab, have the program calculate the 13th fib number by manually modifying this memory location before execution. You may find it helpful to uncheck the 'Hexadecimal Values' box at the bottom of the Data Segment.
    7. How do you view and modify the contents of a register? Reset the simulation (Run-->Reset or F12) and now calculate the 13th fib number by (1) breaking at a well-chosen spot, (2) modifying a single register, and then (3) unsetting the breakpoint.
    8. Lines 19 and 21 use the syscall instruction. What is it and how do you use it? (Hint: look in Help)

    Lawrence Welz (born 1948), better known as Larry Welz, is an American cartoonist, who created Cherry Poptart (now known simply as Cherry). He was an early contributor to the underground comix movement in the San Francisco area during the late 1960s and early 1970s.[1]

    Work[edit]

    From 1969–1970, his work was featured regularly in Yellow Dog, a comics anthology published by the Print Mint in Berkeley, California.[2] A partial list of additional comic books from the era featuring his work includes San Francisco Comic Book, Captain Guts, Funnybook, Bakersfield Kountry Komics and American Flyer Funnies.[3]

    Evolving out of early prototype stories in Funnybook and Bakersfield Kountry Komics, Welz created Cherry Poptart in the early 1980s. Cherry quickly became his most successful and well-known comic book series, with 22 issues and a variety of collections, posters, stickers and tattoos.[4]
